Our goal is to provide opportunities for children and youth to participate in physical activity and fitness programs, to develop skills and knowledge towards health and wellness while asserting autonomy and independence in a fun and social environment.

Who these programs are for

The programs are suitable for children and youth - 4 to 19 years old - with physical, sensory or developmental impairments. 

About our Kids and Teens programs

The Steadward Centre runs programs for kids and teens that encompass motor skill instruction, exercise programs, and sport development for children and youth with impairments.

At present, these programs serve over 200 kids and teens and their families with a range of impairments including

  • autism,
  • developmental coordination disorder
  • cerebral palsy 
  • physical, sensory, and developmental impairments, among others.

The objectives of the kids and teens programs are

  • to provide opportunities for children and youth of all ability levels to participate in physical activity and fitness programs,
  • and to develop health and wellness while asserting their independence in a fun and social environment 

Free tours are provided to kids and teens with impairments and their families to determine the appropriate program for the individual.

Individual Programs 
  • 1:1 Motor Skill Development Sessions (ages 4+)
  • 1:1 Fitness Sessions (ages 12-19)
Program is currently full. We will post the registration forms when we have place available. 
Group Programs
  • Athlete Development
  • Cycle Challenge (ages 7+ and middle school aged children)
  • Movin’ and Groovin’ Dance Class (ages 6-15)
  • PAWS: Pre-adolescent Workout Stations (ages 7-12)
  • Sport Sampler (ages 7-12)
  • Teen Night (ages 12-19)
